HSBC’s Balance and APIC Celebrate International Women’s Day

On March 5, colleagues from across HSBC U.S. came together at The Spiral to celebrate International Women’s Day at a signature event hosted by the US Balance and US APIC Employee Resource Groups, aligned to this year’s theme: “We Make Impact by Taking Action.”

The evening’s conversation featured two leaders who’ve consistently championed progress for women in finance: Ida Liu, CEO, HSBC Private Bank, and Racquel Oden, HSBC U.S. Head of International Wealth, Premier and Global Private Banking. Together, they shared practical, candid perspectives on leadership and sponsorship, and, most importantly, how turning intent into action can create real change for colleagues, clients, and communities.

A key focus of the discussion was the importance of empowering women to take control of their finances. Ida and Racquel spoke about how financial confidence grows when women have access to the right tools, the right conversations, and the right support so they can make informed decisions and build long-term security on their own terms.

They also highlighted the need for financial advice that’s tailored to women’s stages of life, recognising that priorities and challenges evolve over time, from early career planning, to major life milestones, to building and protecting wealth. The message was clear: advice is most impactful when it’s personal, relevant, and designed to meet people where they are.

The event was made even more meaningful by the strong turnout, including several members of the US OpCo, whose presence underscored visible leadership support for inclusion and for accelerating progress.

Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped bring the event to life. Together, we make impact by taking action.
