United Nations 2023 HeForShe Alliance Summit

Since 2021, HSBC US has proudly been a member of the UN Women HeForShe Alliance. The HeForShe is a social movement campaign providing a systematic approach and targeted platform through which men and boys become agents of change for the achievement of gender equality.

This partnership is championed by our Americas CEO, Michael Roberts. Over the 15^th Annual New York Climate Week – and with our US Balance Employee Resource Group spearheading our involvement – HSBC was showcased on a panel discussion centered around being “respectfully disruptive” in the pursuit of gender equality at the 2023 HeForShe Summit.

On Thursday, September 21^st, members of the HSBC US community supported our participation in a thought-provoking panel conversation with business leaders and experts as they delved into the delicate balance between assertiveness and respect in advancing gender equality. Alongside Michael Roberts, speakers included gender equity trailblazers in the worlds of government, business, academia and nonprofits who are already putting this idea into practice and the positive results they are seeing.

As a partner to the UN Women HeForShe Alliance, HSBC US has made the following commitments:

• Achieve 35% female representation in senior leadership by 2025
• Act as a thought leader to advocate for the importance of publicly sharing gender pay gap data

As Michael Roberts has publicly stated, “Advancing the rights of women is not just a gender issue – it is a social imperative. If women are not given opportunities to succeed and reach the highest limits of their potential, our society will fall short of its capacity to serve all people. Men have a responsibility to advocate for gender equality because the future of our society depends on it.”
