HSBC USA Announces Four New Appointments to its Boards of Directors

Carol H. Larson, William Hartmann, Padma Elmgart and Lisa Polsky are the newest Board Members of HSBC North America Holdings Inc. (HNAH) and HSBC Bank USA, N.A. (HBUS).

(NEW YORK) – HSBC Bank USA today announced the recent appointments of Carol H. Larson, William Hartmann, Padma Elmgart and Lisa Polsky to the HSBC North America Holdings Inc. (HNAH) and HSBC Bank USA, N.A. (HBUS) Boards of Directors. Elmgart’s and Polsky’s appointments are effective as of Jan. 7 while Larson and Hartmann were appointed in October 2022.

Carol H. Larson

Larson retired as a Partner from Deloitte & Touche LLP in 2021 after more than 40 years at the firm. As a Partner, she led audits of major banks and securities firms. Over the course of her career at Deloitte, Larson held various leadership roles, including National Audit Partner for Banking, Lead Audit Partner for the Federal Reserve System during the financial crisis, senior advisor to the Global Central Bank Practice and Financial Services Audit Leader. She also served on the firm’s US Retirement Committee and was an active member of Deloitte’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) program, where she created and led a program focused on building a pipeline of female CFOs. Larson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.


William Hartmann

Hartmann retired from KeyCorp in 2018 after serving as Chief Risk Officer for six years. In that role, he created the risk appetite for the entire bank and was a member of the KeyCorp N.A. Board of Directors. Hartmann joined KeyCorp in 2010 as the bank’s first Chief Credit Officer. Previously, he worked at Citigroup for nearly 30 years, holding roles in both the US and Hong Kong. Hartmann spent his early career at a regional bank in Chicago. He serves on the Advisory Board of Blooma, Inc., a software-based Commercial Real Estate lending platform. Hartmann earned a Bachelor of Arts from Albion College and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.


Padma Elmgart

Elmgart is currently Chief Technology Officer and a member of the Management Committee of Global Atlantic Financial Group, a majority owned subsidiary of KKR and a leading insurance company meeting the retirement and life insurance needs of individuals and institutions. Previously, Elmgart held several roles at Deutsche Bank, including Chief Information Officer and Global Head of Equity Derivatives Technology. She spent her early career at Citigroup on the trading floor and went on to work at Barclays, Lehman Brothers and JP Morgan. Elmgart serves on the Board of Directors of Streetwise Partners Inc., a nonprofit that provides career mentorship to adults from under-resourced communities. She earned both her Masters in Computer Science and her Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from University College London.


Lisa Polsky

Polsky retired from CIT Group Inc. in 2015 as the Chief Risk Officer, where she worked closely with regulators to resolve regulatory issues and built out a robust governance and risk framework. Prior to joining CIT Group, Polsky held roles at Duff Capital Advisors, Jane Street Capital, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and worked as an independent risk consultant. She spent her early career at Bankers Trust developing its hedge fund business and at Citibank as a trader. Polsky is in the Risk Management Hall of Fame, the Derivative Strategy Hall of Fame and is a Women’s Bond Club Merit Award winner and founding member of Women on Wall Street. She is a non-executive director of MFA Financial Inc. and Verifone. Polsky earned a Bachelor of Science from New York University.
